27+ Year Old Stephanotis

Here are three photos of  a Stephanotis Plant I have on my windowsill ..

It started out life as a small plant, wrapped around a metal hoop, which was embedded in the pot ..

My father bought this plant for my mother back in 1985 .. A year later, my mother died, and just under two years later still, my father died .. I then inherited this plant .. So if you do your maths corrected, you'll see that the plant is now at least 27 yrs old ..

In all that time, it's only been repotted twice (I think, maybe 3 times) ..

My father had told me that these plants, once they are established, do not like to be moved .. So, through 2 house moves later, it's always resided on the same 'side' facing - usually south to south west .. I guess it loves the sun .. The south west in this house, is in my living room, on the front windowsill .. This is a Georgian half-circle sill, thus giving the plant plenty of room to spread it's wings, which is what it does best ..

This year, as in others, it is absolutely full of lovely white fragrant waxy flowers .. And the living room is filled with their gorgeous, but heady, perfume .. I do have to ventilate the room, otherwise the perfume from so many flowers, can give people headaches ..

Cornwall

Two years ago hubby & I spent a few days in Cornwall (blimey, is it really two years !!) .. We met up with friends, and had a wonderful time .. Seeing as it was only May, most of the touristy things were closed, but there was still plenty to see, and of course, chatting with friends is always good ..

Here are three pictures taken in Mevagissey ..

Perigee Moon

This was the Perigee moon as taken in March 2011 .. This year's moon was hidden by some really horrible weather .. It was taken in Norfolk, near Wells Next the Sea ..

A Cross Posting

Here is a photograph I took some time ago .. Quite an ordinary photo, nothing special, except the memories looking at the photo cunjures up in my memory .. It was part of a bouquet I'd received ..

Needing a Card for a friend's birthday, I decided to use this photo ..

Here is my Card ..

The Beach at Seaford

This is the Beach at Seaford, Sussex ... It's a lovely place .. Soft sand to walk on, the sea to paddle in, and behind where this photo was taken, there's the cliffs ..

It's 9 years since we were here, eating our fish & chips, and enjoying the views .. Methinks another visit is long overdue ..

A visit to Eaton, in Leicestershire

Eaton is a fairly small village, in Leicestershire .. It was the home of my Gt.Gt.Gt.Gt. Grandfather - John ROUSE, (1905-1875) .. He married Elizabeth BURDEN (from Gunby, Lincolnshire) (1808-1890) at the village church - St Denys ..

Here are some photos ..

Draught in March

After a really warm March, when this photograph was taken, we have had quite a bit of rain ..

UK this time - Cosby Beach

This was taken a while back, in 2006 .. One lovely evening, Hubby & I had nothing else to do, so we took a ride out to Cosby Beach to see Anthony Gorman's bronze statues .. Well worth the trip ..

It was a gorgeous evening, and the beach was busy, without being too crowded .. Managed to get lots of lovely photos, but thought this one depicted the evening really well ..

Might post some others, at another time .. :o)

Time I Started Posting Again

It's two whole years since I last posted on here, not sure why I haven't, because I have still been taking photographs ..

Hubby & I have, in the past two years, been to many places in the globe, from the Caribbean to the Canaries to Russia ..

We boarded the Celebrity Eclipse in Southampton, on a 14 day trip to the Canaries ..

At one port, they tested the Lifeboats .. This has happened on all of the cruises we've been on, at least once on each trip ..

Inside, there is an actual Living Tree, right in the centre of the ship - during the day, you can see if for all it's glory, leaves & all - but, at night, multi coloured lights appear to make it come alive ..
